Be Punctual
Getting to a gig too early is always better than getting to a gig too late.

After your set, get your drums off the stage as quickly as you can. Take them someplace that you can tear them down without obstructing the view of the next band and making it difficult for people to get close to the stage. Give the drummer before you a hand and maybe they will return the favor.
Practice playing in front of people when you are not ready will do more harm than good. Not sure if you are ready? Get an objective opinion, not your friends, not your relatives, ask a local music writer or blogger or a local club owner or booker to listen to a live demo. Find a open mic in your area to get some stage time in before the big first show.
Don’t start hitting your drums while the sound guy is mic’ing your kit.
Guitarists. Buy a tuner, user a tuner. No exceptions. They are inexpensive and often overlooked. Additionally, never, never, never tune your guitar full volume through your amp. It’s a sound that nobody wants to hear and makes you look like an amateur. Seconds seem like minutes on stage but taking the extra time to insure you are in tune is worth every second.
